Towards a sustainable energy supply for industrial sites

For eight months, the feasibility study ‘De Staak’ focused on a sustainable energy concept for new SME business sites destined for development. TH!NK E, in collaboration with Wattson and Viessmann, led the study in the Microgrid innovator zone. The subject of the business case consisted of establishing the extent to which an alternative for the natural gas network could be developed with decentralised heat pumps that were fed by local sustainable electricity sources. SME business site De Staak in Opwijk was the starting point for this feasibility study, with the spread to other business sites an ever-present consideration.
