Hack Utilities

Organizing Hack Utilities required more preparation time in order to bring larger, better prepared teams to the event.

The date of the event has therefore been moved: instead of 25-26 June, Hack Utilities will take place on 1 and 2 October.

The event will take place on the same days of the week (Tuesday and Wednesday) and in the same location (Area 42, Brussels).

The updated agenda:

Session: exploring synergies and spotting opportunities
25 June 2019, 2-5pm, location in Brussels TBD: Hack Utilities Ideation

  • Objectives: exploring synergies between all participating organizations and identifying at least 10-15 top opportunities for innovation and new business. Format: 3-hour ideation session. Short expert briefings and multiple rounds of brainstorming, using different formats, to tap into the collective intelligence of all present.
  • Participants: company executives, innovation and operations managers, R&D, engineers.

1-2 October 2019: Hack Utilities

  • Concept: open innovation event for engineers, operations specialists and business developers from the utilities sector and the relevant ecosystem (regulators, technology companies, consumers). Objective: creating ingenious, unorthodox solutions for the most pressing issues of the Utilities industry – and launching promising new collaborative innovation projects.
  • Format: Hands-on, interactive and creative event. The agenda includes short expert briefings, multiple rounds of ideation and small-group work to develop and validate the most promising ideas.
  • Participants: Hack Utilities will bring together a widely diverse audience of 100-120 people, including city authorities, regulators, lawyers, software developers, university researchers, and specialists in technology ranging from AI and data science to drones, robotics, and IoT.
