HEATInvest
Enhancing cluster development and investment readiness of the heat-pumps and geothermal energy European value chain.
International
HeatInvest is a European interregional innovation project funded under the I3 instrument of the EU (Interregional Innovation Investments). The project runs from September 2025 to August 2027 and aims to accelerate the deployment of heat pumps and geothermal energy solutions, especially in less developed regions across Europe.
Regional Development Fund of the Region of East Macedonia and Thrace, German Geothermal Association, Flemish Energy Cluster FLUX50, Chamber of Installation Specialists in Bulgaria, Instytut Doradztwa Sustainable Infrastructure Cluster, South Transdanubian Innovation Agency, Extremadura Energy Agency (AGENEX), Equium Groupe and PROMEA.

Focus
HeatInvest supports the growth and competitiveness of regional value chains around heat-pump and geothermal technologies by:
- Strengthening local and interregional innovation ecosystems
- Improving investment readiness of key actors
- Enabling cross-regional collaboration and market access
- Building capacity among manufacturers, installers, policymakers and research partners
The project places emphasis on connecting regions with lower innovation performance to more mature ecosystems, facilitating knowledge transfer and joint initiatives that de-risk investment and improve commercial outcomes.
The project brings together organisations from eight European countries: Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Bulgaria.
This geographic diversity ensures that expertise from more mature heating markets can directly support regions with high growth potential.
What HeatInvest does
HeatInvest delivers targeted activities to support ecosystem actors and stakeholders:
- Living labs, seminars & matchmaking events to strengthen business planning and investment skills
- Study visits & demonstration days to transfer know-how across regions
- Workshops, surveys & action plans to foster understanding of markets and align innovation policies
Through these activities, participants gain practical tools and insights needed to form regional innovation partnerships and to scale low-carbon heating technologies across Europe.
