Flanders invests in innovation: VLAIO approves new projects
We, and more specifically the members of Flux50, do not sit still when it comes to innovation. In recent months, despite, or perhaps thanks to, the corona virus, a number of promising topics have once again been turned into innovation projects supported by the Hermes Fund and Flux50.
In a feasibility study, the Port of Antwerp, together with Engie, Exmar and Fluxys, is looking for the best ways and pathways to introduce molecular renewable energy in Flanders. This will lead to the identification of some major step stone projects that will make these routes possible in the future.
Together with Catalisti, Flux50 supports 4 industrial partners (Azteq, Borealis, Soltech,
Engie Laborelec) and 3 research organisations (IMEC, KU Leuven, VITO) in their ICON project around CSP+. The project aims to combine 2 solar technologies that produce heat and electricity. The research includes the design of the solar modules, new transmission coatings and the integration technology to improve the total energy yield of 1 system. The reduced Levelized Cost of Energy of CSP systems will also make such systems economically interesting for regions with a lot of diffuse light.
