Smappee introduces a charging station for business use
The Belgian cleantech company Smappee recently presented its EV Base, a smart charging station for electric cars aimed mainly at companies.
According to the manufacturer from Harelbeke, the Smappee EV Base deals with three major annoyances around electric vehicle charging. Firstly, the charging station automatically keeps consumption below the limits of the existing infrastructure. This prevents fuses from blowing and expensive modifications to the electricity supply being necessary.

Priority charging
Secondly, the smart charging station allows maximum use to be made of the self-produced solar energy for charging the vehicle fleet. Finally, via the Smappee app and an online dashboard, users and fleet managers can view the charging process and costs in real time, as well as a historical overview.
The EV Base is primarily designed for companies that want to charge several electric vehicles at the same time. There are two charging points per pole with fixed charging cables and thanks to the integrated LED lighting, no additional lighting needs to be provided. For those who need to go to an appointment quickly, there is priority charging, where certain cars are charged faster than others.
The EV Base is available from €2,500, depending on the optional services chosen. According to Smappee, this makes the EV Base up to 30 percent cheaper than similar charging stations.
