Concentrated Solar Power
In the context of the Energy Harbors innovator zone, Tractebel took the lead in the 4-month feasibility study ‘Renewable Heat Generation from Concentrated Solar Power’. Together with its partners Azteq and Port of Antwerp, with this project Tractebel aims to show that concentrated solar heat is a viable alternative for supplying heat at high temperatures in large quantities to industrial processes in Flanders. On the other hand, solar energy is subject to sizeable daily and seasonal variations which can be tackled by using back-up solutions based on traditional fuel sources or by means of heat storage. This project will specifically evaluate the potential of heat storage in the Port of Antwerp, especially in aquifers.
